How to wear tribal / African prints this summer

Tribal prints are bang on trend this summer. Tribal prints have bold geometric shapes, vibrant hues and a mix of patterns which may seem daunting to a lot of people, but it looks great if worn properly. From accessories to stylish dresses, shorts, leggings and shoes, this trend is everywhere.

Being a brand whose aesthetic is predominantly African print, we LOVE this trend. In this post we give ideas on how to wear tribal prints without being overpowered by print.

1. Keep it simple. With any trend, simplicity is key. Prints over prints can be too much, so its important to wear it moderately. Some people will be able to pull off prints over prints, but if classic is more your taste, opt for something simple, perhaps a tribal skirt over denim or a simple/plain colour tee.

2. Pair prints with a solid colour. If your skirt is printed, pair them with bold tops - the contrast of the vibrant prints with basic colours will accentuate and add dimension to your look.

3. Accessorize. If you're not so sure about this trend, consider adding tribal/ethnic jewellery or accessories to your look. Accessories are a great way of sampling a trend. Opt for simple block colours with tribal accessories for a subtle take on the trend. Try tribal necklaces with a button down shirt, or an aztec or geometric print clutch teamed up with a dress and killer heels.

4. Add texture. Tribal/African prints look gorgeous teamed up with various textures. Try a tribal skirt and a plain top with a (faux) fur or suede jacket. Have fun with it.

5. It's in the detail. Look out for subtle colours on the prints, and try to match your outfit to those colours.

Tribal prints are here to stay and with these fashion and styling tips, you can never go wrong. Embrace the bold, geometric patterns and allow tribal/African prints accentuate your outfit.

Till next time.
